Cleaning your home can be a daunting task, but it’s not rocket science…
Even if your last cleaning experience made you feel like you needed a doctorate.
Serenity Cleaning is here to help you avoid some common mistakes. Because let’s face it, the only thing worse than cleaning is having to do it twice.
Let's start with rags and sponges.
Yes, they are important. No, you can’t just use the same one over and over again. If you want your home to be as clean as a whistle and not resemble a petri dish, use washable towels or designate specific rags for each area of your home.
And please, for the love of all that is holy, use the right sponge for the right surface. We don’t want to see you scrubbing away at your non-stick cookware with a metal sponge.
Don't drink the blue stuff:
Moving on to cleaning products, we know that you might be tempted to unleash the power of the chemicals on every surface…
but hold your horses…
Not all cleaning supplies are created equal:
Chemical cleaners can damage delicate surfaces, like granite countertops. And let’s be real, unless you’re living in a frat house, there’s no need to use aggressive cleaners that contain bleach.
K.I.S.S… Keep it Simple St… Smartypants:
Use a basic all natural cleaner around your house. And remember, disinfecting is not the same as cleaning.
So, clean before you disinfect.
Don't sweat the technique:
When it comes to scrubbing surfaces with cleaners or water, there’s a right way and a wrong way.
Don’t soak padded surfaces unless you want your bed to start growing mold. And if you have carpets or rugs, don’t scrub those stains away, blotting is the way to go.
This Sucks..:
Don’t forget about your vacuum. Yes, you need to empty the container, but you also need to clean the hose, vent, and attachments. If you don’t, you’ll be spewing out more dust than you’re getting rid of.
Keep it fun:
Let’s face it, cleaning is not the most exciting task in the world. But with a little creativity, you can make it fun and enjoyable. Put on some music (or whatever you kids are listening to these days), set a timer, and see if you can set a new World record.
You can even turn cleaning into a game by creating a checklist of tasks and seeing how quickly you can complete them. And don’t forget to reward yourself afterwards with a treat or some relaxation time.
It's not child labor if they're your kids:
Another way to make cleaning more enjoyable is to involve the whole family. Assign tasks to each member and make it a competition to see who can finish first or do the best job.
Not only will you be cleaning, but you’ll also be teaching a valuable lesson to your kids about why they should have their own kids.
You've got this!..Or not:
So, there you have it. Cleaning doesn’t have to be a nightmare if you avoid these common mistakes. And if all else fails, give us a call and we’ll be right over!
